Current Opportunities
I have openings for undergraduate research (PIBIC), M.Sc., and Ph.D. supervision in the following areas:
- Quantum information in quantum field theory — Bell inequalities, entanglement entropy, relative entropy
- Non-perturbative aspects of gauge theories — Gribov problem, confinement, spectral functions
- Entanglement in many-body systems — spin chains, lattice models
- Holography and the gravity–quantum information interface — entanglement in AdS/CFT, wormholes, von Neumann algebras
- Generalized symmetries and topological matter — higher-form symmetries, lattice gauge theories, topological order
Interested students should contact me by email: msguimaraes@uerj.br
Available M.Sc. Projects
Three defined master’s projects are currently available, designed as companions to graduate courses in preparation:
- Cocycle perturbation of crossed-product algebras in free QFT — companion to the planned course on the algebraic structure of quantum field theory
- Condensation defects in Z_N lattice gauge theory — companion to the planned course on generalized symmetries and topological matter
- A project on gauge/gravity duality and black-hole information (topic being defined) — companion to the planned course on holography through quantum information and operator algebras
