Confinement & Gauge Theories

The Gribov problem in non-abelian gauge theories and the Refined Gribov–Zwanziger (RGZ) approach to confinement in QCD. Topics include: exact nilpotent BRST symmetry, extension to linear covariant gauges, glueball mass calculations and spectral functions, gluon and ghost propagators. A recent development is the extension of the Gribov no-pole condition to Lorentzian signature, opening a real-time formulation of the confinement problem.

Keywords: non-perturbative QCD, Gribov copies, Gribov horizon, confining propagators, BRST, Lorentzian signature

Topological Phases & Defects

Topological order, defect condensation via the Julia–Toulouse mechanism, and Chern–Simons theories. Applications to topological insulators, Weyl superconductors, and monopole operators in topological matter. Multivalued fields and disorder operators. Ongoing work revisits the Julia–Toulouse mechanism in the modern language of generalized (higher-form) symmetries and condensation defects.

Keywords: topological defects, duality, Julia–Toulouse mechanism, topological insulators, higher-form symmetries

Quantum Information in Quantum Field Theory

Most recent and rapidly growing line of research (23 works in 2023–2026: 21 published articles and 2 preprints under review). Development of an original formalism based on Weyl operators and Tomita–Takesaki modular theory for the study of:

  • Bell-CHSH and Mermin inequality violations in relativistic QFT, including cat states and causal diamond regions
  • Bell-CHSH for Majorana fields, bosonization and vertex operators, and the Tsirelson bound via modular wedge localization
  • Araki–Uhlmann relative entropy of coherent and squeezed states
  • Entanglement measures in free and gauge field theories
  • Quantum embezzlement in Type III$_1$ von Neumann algebras

Ongoing directions, currently in preparation, include temporal correlations in QFT, quantum Darwinism, and operational aspects of type III von Neumann algebras.

Keywords: entanglement, Bell inequalities, relative entropy, von Neumann algebras, Tomita–Takesaki

Holography & Quantum Information of Spacetime (exploratory)

An emerging line at the interface of gravity and quantum information, connecting the group’s type III von Neumann algebra toolkit to holography: entanglement in AdS/CFT, wormholes and quantum information, entanglement embezzlement and crossed-product constructions, and generalized entropy. This direction is developed in dialogue with the current open-problems programme at the gravity/quantum-information interface.

Keywords: AdS/CFT, holography, wormholes, crossed products, generalized entropy

Condensed Matter Applications

Effective field theories for topological superconductors, Lorentz symmetry violation, generalized symmetries. Microscopic fermionic models for Weyl superconductors and the connection between the massive photon propagator and axionic fluctuations.

Keywords: topological superconductors, anomalies, generalized symmetries
