Definition
Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) gravity is a 2-dimensional dilaton-gravity theory with bulk action plus a Gibbons-Hawking boundary term, in nearly-AdS₂. On-shell dynamics reduces to a Schwarzian theory of the boundary reparametrisation mode. JT is the soluble laboratory for nearly-AdS₂ holography and the cleanest setting for Page-curve / island calculations.
Role in Research
JT gravity is introduced in Sem I Wk 15 and returned to as the workhorse of Sem II Wk 6 (Page curve in JT + bath). Its exact solvability makes it ideal for explicit calculations of the page-curve via the island prescription, complementing the general arguments made with the full QES formula.
Relations
- page-curve — JT gravity + bath is the canonical system for an explicit Page-curve derivation.
- quantum-extremal-surfaces — the island prescription is cleanest in the JT gravity setting.
- holographic-dictionary — nearly-AdS₂/CFT₁ holography is the JT specialisation of the standard dictionary.
