Statement
Problem 4.6 of Goto et al.: if QEC is a structural feature of holography, how quantum is the protected information? What is the holographic counterpart of the classical-vs-quantum distinction in error-correcting codes (which information is classically protected vs. genuinely quantum-protected)?
Why It Matters
Peripheral to the group, but the operator-algebra framing (which subalgebra is protected) touches the von Neumann-algebra language the group uses, linking loosely to quantum-information-in-infinite-dimensions.
What We Know
- Classical codes protect classical bits; quantum codes protect against a full (Pauli) error set.
- In holography the “code subspace” is the reconstructible bulk EFT sector; its classical vs. quantum content is not sharply characterized.
Possible Approaches
- Decompose the protected algebra into classical (center) and quantum parts.
- Relate to OAQECC and to the type of the reconstructed algebra.
