Overview

UERJ — Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro — is the primary institutional home of the research group. The relevant unit is the Departamento de Física Teórica (Department of Theoretical Physics), which hosts the majority of collaborators, students, and postdocs. UERJ is a state university funded by the Rio de Janeiro state government. The department has a long-standing strength in non-perturbative QCD, gauge theory, and more recently quantum information in QFT.

Funding programs based at UERJ include the Prociência productivity grant (three consecutive cycles: 2017–2020, 2020–2023, 2023–2026), the FAPERJ Emerging Groups grant, and the FAPERJ Young Scientist grant.

Recent collaborators also affiliated with UERJ include Philipe De Fabritiis, Arthur F. Vieira, Fillipe M. Guedes, João G. A. Caribé, Giovani Peruzzo, and M.A.L. Capri (historical).

Research Focus

The UERJ group’s research divides into two main programs:

  1. Quantum information in QFT (primary program, 2023–present): Bell-CHSH and Mermin inequality violations, Araki-Uhlmann relative entropy, and entanglement embezzlement using Weyl operators and Tomita-Takesaki modular theory in algebraic QFT. See bell-inequalities-qft and relative-entropy-qft.

  2. Gribov-Zwanziger physics (long-standing program, 2010–present): Non-perturbative structure of non-abelian gauge theories, Gribov copies, BRST symmetry, spectral functions, ghost-gluon vertex, and confinement phases. See gribov-zwanziger and confinement-duality.

The department collaborates closely with cbpf (also in Rio de Janeiro) and with ghent-university through the CAPES-PrInt program.
